About Surge

In early 2024, Dennis Beatty wanted to add text messaging to a side project he was working on. Even though he had worked with SMS APIs professionally in the past, he was surprised by how bad they had gotten. The APIs were hard to use, the documentation was hard to navigate, and worst of all they made carrier registration a huge pain.

We built Surge to solve these problems. Our API is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, with clear documentation and examples. We've streamlined the carrier registration process so that you can get up and running in days, not weeks.
